What factors predict success for a single embryo transfer?

Date: Thursday, January 11, 2017
Time: 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

Jennifer Mersereau, M.D., M.S.C.I., and coauthors Jamie Stanhiser, M.D. and Charles Coddington, M.D., will be joined by experts in the field, including Brad Van Voorhis, M.D., and Rachel Mejia, D.O., to discuss the recent Fertility and Sterility manuscript  “Patient and cycle characteristics predicting high pregnancy rates with single-embryo transfer: an analysis of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology outcomes between 2004 and 2013."

Questions to be addressed will include:
  • Do factors predicting success differ in fresh or frozen thawed cycles?
  • What are the tradeoffs between single embryo and double embryo transfer in patients with favorable prognostic factors?
  • How does this data inform the American Society for Reproductive Medicine guideline regarding number of embryos to transfer?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of research using the SART CORS database?

The Journal club will be hosted by Michael Thomas, M.D., and the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and by Fertility and Sterility's Video and Media Editor, Kurt Barnhart, M.D., M.S.C.E. at the University of Pennsylvania, with Micah Hill, D.O.
