Overview

We are launching the Smarter Working Week in association with Shoosmiths, a new event that looks at how to harness the disruptive creativity of 2020 and turn it into deliverable projects that generate tangible improvements.

With every legal team unique in terms of the work it does and the challenges it faces, we’ve tried to design an event that gives attendees control over their time and participation, allowing them to customise their agenda according to their needs. The available sessions are designed to provide food for thought on how to do things differently and to deliver actionable and easy to implement advice.

Out with the old, in with the new: What does smarter working look like as in-house lawyers build back better?

Sponsored by Shoosmiths

  • Enhancing the experience for the business
  • Keeping your team joined up like never before
  • Overcoming the obstacles to smarter working

Doing more with what you have vs doing more with less vs doing less with less: what is the winning strategy?

Sponsored by ThoughtRiver

  • Working smarter by letting some things go: the notion of accepted risk and understanding that the legal team doesn’t need to look at everything
  • When “good enough” is good enough: becoming more critical about what work the legal team needs to do and why
  • Increasing the efficiency of your resource allocation and the importance of having a robust process in place for this
  • The importance of business processing and mapping: relieving the legal team from having to do low value admin work through automation and external counsel

Demonstrating and articulating the value of the legal team

Sponsored by Dentons Nextlaw In-House Solutions

  • Demonstrating that you're not only an efficient legal team, but that you're also adding value
  • Increasing the visibility of the legal team within the business
  • Streamlining Legal’ relationship with the business by building trust and ensuring you have the best process in place for providing advice KPIs, KRIs and measuring productivity in-house: is it worth doing, is it too late to start doing it, and what is the best way to measure it?
  • Budget cuts: GC advice on having THAT awkward conversation

Creating a legal function from scratch

What does it take to create a legal function from scratch? Watch this 30-minute case study from a GC who has done this several times, talking about the good, the stressful and the why. Take advantage of the live Q&A to find out more and don’t forget to check our "Case Study"

Ways GCs can make their lives easier

Sponsored by Onit

During this interactive session, each speaker will share an example of how they’ve made the life of their legal team easier, covering everything from changing habits, doing things slightly differently, re-evaluating priorities and using tech to create efficiencies. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions on the issues they would like more detail on.
