Overview

Accurate identification of the presence and characteristics of tumours is fundamental to the treatment of cancer patients. Percutaneous needle biopsy has been at the forefront of cancer diagnosis since the middle of the last century. However, the success of this method is heavily dependent on accurate placement of the needle. It is estimated that up to 20% of cases require repeat biopsies. Two of the factors that affect accurate needle placement are poor visibility and tip deflection.

Active Needle Technology Ltd.'s technology induces ultrasonic vibrations to needles, which makes the needle tip more visible under standard imaging techniques and reduces the off-axis tip deflection, resulting in more accurate needle placement.

In this webinar, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq, Senior Technical Officer at ANT, will demonstrate how finite element analysis has been used to develop an ultrasonic device using COMSOL Multiphysics®. The webinar will primarily focus on determining the eigenfrequencies of an ultrasonic transducer and attachment tool and discuss the fine-tuning required to achieve a resonant system.

This presentation will include a live demonstration and a Q&A session during which you can ask questions.
