The Shift to Net Zero: From Ambition to Action  event series

The UK Government’s Energy White Paper, published on 14 December 2020, sets out a series of historic commitments designed to assist the UK’s transition to net zero. The paper outlines a strategy based on transforming energy, supporting a green recovery and creating a fair deal for consumers.

Join our legal experts as we embark on a series of lively discussions with speakers from industry, academia and government about the impact of the ‘Green Industrial Revolution’.

Recorded Wednesday 12 May 2021: Growing Greener

Held in association with the Global Ethical Finance Initiative as part of its Path to COP26 campaign, we will look at how our rural industries can play an essential role in carbon offsetting and protecting natural capital.

Growing Greener will be chaired by Hamish Lean, Partner and Head of Rural Property. Hamish will be joined by a panel of leading experts comprising Andy Turnbull, Head of Natural Capital & Sustainable Investment at Bidwells; James McDougall, Carbon Manager for Scotland at the Woodland Trust; and Stuart Greenwood, Partner in our rural property and business team.

With a particular focus on the forestry sector, our panel will discuss:

  • the current lay of the land;
  • challenges and opportunities for landowners and investors, at a UK and global level; and
  • the practicalities and legalities of carbon offsetting and investing in trees.
