The London 2012 Olympic Stadium was the iconic centrepiece of the 2012 Olympics and was the venue of many of the sporting highlights of the games and has continued to serve as an excellent sporting venue since the Olympics. Not many people know what went into winning the Olympic bid and creating the London 2012 Olympic Stadium.
To explain this, Derek Mason will go through his involvement in the project, where he led the team that did the independent structural engineering check of the stadium for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and how he saw the application of the 7 Essential Principles to Running a Successful Project were applied to the creation of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. This is described in his published book “Will It Stand Up? – A Professional Engineer’s View of the Creation of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium” which is available on Amazon.
