Mandating patient-level costing in acute providers

Tuesday 3 October 2017 - 12.30pm

We are consulting on mandating patient-level costing (often referred to as PLICS) for 2018/19.  If brought into place, this would mean that every acute provider will have to make a national PLICS return.

We are doing this because PLICS is the best way for providers and national programmes to have a clear and consistent understanding of what it costs to deliver care in the NHS.

This webinar will set out the process for mandating PLICS, along with a description of the proposals and how you can feedback to us.

Who should attend?

This webinar will be of interest to:

  • costing professionals
  • senior finance staff
  • colleagues who are interested in the costing of healthcare services

Please note in this webinar we will not talk about PLICS in a mental health, community or ambulance setting.  However, we will be starting to develop proposals for a mandate for these other NHS healthcare sectors from January, and we welcome responses to our consultation from all provider organisations.

We are consulting on mandating patient-level costing (often referred to as PLICS) for 2019/20.  If brought into place, this would mean that every acute provider will have to make a national PLICS return.
